The general recruitment into the Navy in Ghana is done by the Ghana Armed Forces yearly. This gives Ghanaians who qualify generally, academically and have no health conditions the opportunity to apply and join the Ghana Navy. Applicants who want to apply for the Navy in Ghana select their category and follow the processes to get recruited into the Ghana Navy.

How do I become a Navy in Ghana?

To join the Navy in Ghana, the basis is that you meet the General requirements; academic requirements, purchase a form from a post office designated by the Ghana Armed Forces and then go to the official Recruitment website of the Ghana Armed Forces to Apply.

Below are the requirements you need to become a Navy in Ghana:

General Eligibility

• Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.

• Be of a good character.

• Not less than 20 years and not more than 26 years 06 June 2021, for regular commission and not more than 30 years by Thursday 02 May 2021, for short service commission.

• Be medically fit by Ghana Armed. Forces Standards.

• Not Bonded.

• Not married (for Regular Officer Candidates Only),

• Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6″) for males and 1.60m (5’4″) for females.

Must have the following:

i. BECE, Six (6) Credit at BECE, including English, and Mathematics.

ii. WASSCE, Six (6) Credit (Not less than C6), Including Core English and Core Mathematics.

OR

iii. SSSCE, Six (6) Credits (not less than D) , Including Core English and Core Mathematics.

OR

iv. GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Level , Five (5) Credits (not less than 6), Including English and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and not less than D in two subjects and General Paper at GCE ‘A’ Level.

Academic Requirements

a. Executive Branch

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized institution in any of the following:

• Nautical Science

• Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Statistics

• Computer Science

• Oceanography or Geomatic Engineering

b. Technical Branch

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

• Chemistry/Biochemistry

• Logistics and supply chain management

• Procurement and supply chain management

• Publishing/Graphic Design

C. Supply and Secretariat Branch.

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized University or equivalent Professional institution in any of the following:

• Adminstration (Human Resource/Accounting/Marketing/Banking & Finance)

• Logistics and Supply Chain Management

• Port and Shipping Administration

• Managememt Studies/ Bachelor of Commerce

• Procurement and Supply Chain Management

• Economics

• Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in the following:

a. Institute of Chartered Secretariat and Adminstration (ICSA) – Final Part.

b. Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – Level 5

c. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CLT) – Final Part.
