Jonathan Galindo is widely known as the goofy man in a dog mask and associated with the “Blue Whale” game challenge. The Blue Whale game which had a series of activities was initiated by Jonathan Galindo. His real identity is unknown since he hides his face behind the dog mask.

Also, several social media platforms have been created with his name, making it very difficult to locate the real him. However, according to several information gathered, his game involves strange activities that require you to commit suicide at the end.

He sends messages to people randomly on social media, asking them if they want to play a game. Sources say people who refuse to play the game are traced by him using their IP address, kidnapping and harming them.

How Jonathan Galindo Got Popular

According to Urban Legends, Jonathan wanted to work in Disneyland but was rejected because he had mental issues. As a result of that, he decided to target youngsters on social media and terrorize them. He started his challenge game on Tiktok in 2016, where he targeted children to play his game. The Blue Whale game was initially on the Spanish-speaking internet before, later getting to English-speaking users.

His popularity grew very much, and at the hearing of his name, terrorized children. Several others used this opportunity to create social media accounts with his name.

Jonathan Galindo “Blue Whale” Challenge

According to Devon Children and Families Partnership, ‘Blue Whale’ is a pro-suicide group that psychologically provokes children to take on the ‘Blue Whale game.’ Its original name was CИHИЙ KИT (Russian), Ballena Azul (Spanish) or ‘F57’ or ‘F58’.

The Blue Whale game was an initiative by a group of Russians in 2015, which became very popular in Central Asian countries like India, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, with cases also in the USA and Brazil.

After it gained much popularity, people forgot about the game due to its dangerous activities until an unknown account resurfaced on Tiktok bearing the username jonathangalindo54. The account was showing its registration as 2019. This also led to the creation of other accounts on various social media platforms. These account users were messaging others to play the game or face certain consequences.

In 2020, the game was reintroduced by Jonathan Galindo, and several people contacted and asked if they would play the game. The Blue Whale game contained 50 steps or activities that were to be completed by players and in the end, commit suicide.

Although the game was very dangerous, there were a few videos that showed a couple of social media users taking part in the challenge, but these videos have all been erased because of their graphics.

Some steps of the Blue Whale game challenge

  • Carve a specific phrase, usually ‘F57’, on the person’s own hand or arm.
  • Wake up at unusual hours, usually at 4:20 AM. and watch a horror video sent by the administrators.
  • Make lengthwise cuts on the person’s own body.
  • Draw a whale on a piece of paper.
  • Write yes on the person’s own leg if ready to be a whale. If not, they should cut themselves or self-mutilate themselves.
  • Doing secret tasks.
  • Scratch a message on the person’s own arm.
  • Write a status on social media about being a whale.
  • Overcome a specific fear.
  • Get up at 4:20 and go on top of the person’s house’s roof.
  • Carve a whale on the person’s own hand.
  • Watch horror movies for an entire day.
  • Listen to music the administrators send.
  • Cut the person’s own lips.
  • Poke a needle to the person’s own arm.
  • Purposefully make the person hurt or sick on their own will.
  • Climb to a roof and stand on the edge.
  • Stand on a bridge.
  • Climb a crane.
  • If the administrators see the players as trustworthy, the administrators then talk to the players on Skype.
  • Climb to the roof and have the person’s legs dangling over the edge.
  • Doing another secret task.
  • Meet the “whale” (administrator).
  • The administrator then assigns a date for the player to die.
  • Not speaking with anyone for a day.
  • A final oath and vow about being a whale.

After the days are over, the final challenge often requires the player to commit suicide.

Why does Jonathan Galindo wear dog mask?

Some people have indicated that they have had physical contact with Galindo, and they disclosed that he is deformed due to a chemical accident. And this could also be one reason why he wears the dog mask while others say he is cursed.

Galindo’s wearing of a dog face mask took inspiration from the legend about ‘Momo,’ which is a half-woman, half-bird creature that terrorized social media users. “Momo Challenge” is a form of cyberbullying targeting children and adolescents.

The Momo image was originally adopted from the Japanese Sculptor Keisuke Aiso. According to Canini, he was shocked at how Galindo had become a household name and had this to say.

“This Jonathan Galindo madness seems to be terrorizing a great many young impressionable people. The photos and videos are mine from 2012-2013 were for my own weird amusement then, not for some modern-day thrillseeker looking to scare and bully people,” he said.

Although the real Jonathan Galindo is not known, the have been people using her name on social media to contact others to lure them into playing the game.
