Highlife Legend AB Crentsil Has Passed Away

Popular Ghanaian Highlife musician AB Crentsil has passed away at the age of 79 years. The sad news has broke the heart of many after it was confirmed by sound Engineer, Fred Kyei Mensah on Wednesday, 13th July, 2022 in a Facebook post.

The contemporary vocalist had won several awards including one from Fontomfrom Evergreen Award which is a special honor bestowed upon a musician with 15-20 years of continues music experience.

He is recognized as one of the great legends that kept the highlife music on it track. AB Crentsil was also recognized internationally with his unique style of music and melodious rhythm.

Dead is truly inevitable as we woke up this morning to hear the sad news that one of Ghana’s legend when it comes to highlife has passed on.

Crentsil has played with the El Dorados, the Sweet Talks – which latter group in the 1970s, under the joint leadership of Crentsil and Smart Nkansah, were the resident band at The Talk Of The Town Hotel in Tema, with Crentsil as lead singer — and then finally the Ahenfo Band.

Crentsil opened a 16-track recording studio in 1990. “Devil” is among his best known songs.

His death came as a shock to many as they can’t believe his demise. Many Ghanaians have massively expressed their condolences over his death on social media.
