How To Register Your SIM Cards With Ghana Card Using Your Phone
Sim Re-Registration is scheduled to start from 1st October, 2021 and Ghanaians should take note of the information in this article. Here, we have provided you with the process or steps to follow to register your card on your phone.
It was communicated earlier this year that every Ghanaian; both new and existing SIM Card users will need to be re-register their sims using the Ghana Card. This information was made possible through the National Communications Authority (NCA).

However, reasons behind this re-registration is to help eradicate certain criminal acts such as sim boxing. This will also help the authority to have a centralized database of subscribers in Ghana.
This exercise is mandatory and everyone must get themselves involved as far as you owe a sim card in Ghana. Every sim car user will have to visit the nearest sim card registration vendor to have his or her SIM cards re-registered using the Ghana Card.
Alternatively, you can get it done in the comfort of your home using using the mobile phone. This process is the main focus of our article.
Note: Every subscriber is given the opportunity to register or re-register 10 SIM cards with the same Ghana Card.
How To Register Your SIM Cards With Ghana Card Using Your Mobile Phone ?
- Dial the short code *404#
- Enter Ghana Card Pin (Note: Enter letters and figures without hyphens)
- Confirm Ghana Card Pin
- Enter Surname
- Insert First Name(s)
- Enter Date of Birth (Format: DDMMYYYY)
- Select Sex
- Confirm Details
- Submit Details Provided After Confirmation
What happens after submitting your details
- When your submission is successful, you will receive a confirmation message with a unique number.
- When it shows as unsuccessful due to misuse details, you will be given 3 attempts to answer security questions
- If unsuccessful due to verification failure at the National Identification Authority (NCA), you will be informed to contact the NIA.
How to register your SIM without Ghana Card
According to him, the exercise will commence with over 15.5 million Ghanaians with the National Identification Cards while persons who do not have the cards will be given a special opportunity to acquire the cards.
“15.5 million people have their cards already so those 15.5 million people can go and register their SIM cards when the process begins. But the rest who do not have it will be catered for. We have divided the population into two. For those who are 15 years and above, we have captured about 84%.
“So the rest can go to the district and regional offices. All Ghanaians, 15 and above who did not get their Ghana card can go to the NIA offices anywhere and get registered.”
“We will also register those who are younger and under 15, so they will also be able to access the service. But as the Honourable Minister communicated, this will be over a period up to December 31st, so all those who desire to get the Ghana card can go and get it from any of our offices. It is free,” he said.
What happens when you fail to re-register your sim
After December 31, 2021, all subscribers who fails to go through but re-registration of their sim will have them blocked.
