JUST IN: Nana Akufo Addo Signs E-Levy Bill Into Law

The Electronic Transfer Levy Bill (E-Levy) which was passed few days ago in parliament has been signed into a law by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo. This is an indication that the E-Levy bill will be implemented with full force and is here to stay.

The situation surrounding the passage of the E-Levy Bill didn’t come in good faith to the Minority in Parliament hence, a petition was put forth to challenge the decision at the Supreme Court. However, it didn’t prevent the bill to be signed into a law.

Reports earlier indicated that most of the Minority MPs walk out and that the E-Levy Bill was passed on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in their absence.

The controversial E-Levy bill has comes under much criticism for months now and that most Ghanaians don’t accept this policy by the Government.
The levy was changed from 1.75 percent to 1.5 percent on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Every electronic transactions including mobile-money payments will be taxed.
The charge will apply to electronic transactions that are more than GH¢100 on a daily basis.
