The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, a business tycoon and strong wing of the New Patriotic Party, has been appointed as the new head of the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is serving as the Head of the Interior Committee in the seventh parliament of Ghana. However, the Defense and Interior Committee will have oversight responsibilities on all security-related matters in the country.

The committee is composed of 18 Members of Parliament, nine from the National Democratic Congress and nine from the New Patriotic Party. Hon. James Agalga of the National Democratic Congress is serving as the ranking member. Also, Hon Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings serves as deputy ranking member.
The Vice-Chair position goes to Hon. Ophelia Mensah, Member of Parliament for Mankessim. However, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Martins, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, Hon. Kwadzo Asante, and Hon. Daniel Botwe are members of the committee.

In addition, Hon. Anim Adam, Hon. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, and Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh are the other members of the committee.
In conclusion, Hon. Muhammad Bawah Braima, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, Hon. Benson Tongo Baba, Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, Hon. Kofi Adams, Hon. Adjoa Ntoso and Hon. Cletus Avoka make up the committee.

This committee, however, comprises a balanced equation of the two giant political parties in Ghana. Their responsibility will be in accordance with security matters. For instance, looking into matters that have breech our security activities.
