The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Centra Region, Hon Kennedy Agyapong a business tycoon and strong wing of the New Patriotic Party has been appointed as the new head of the Defense and Interior Commiittee of Parliament.
Hon Kennedy Agyapong is serving as the Head of the Interior Committee in the seventh parliament of Ghana. However, the Defense and Interior Committee will have oversight responsibilities on all security-related matters in the country.

The committee compose of 18 Members of Parliament, nine from the National Democratic Congress and nine from the New Patroitic Party. Hon James Agalga of the National Democratic Congress is serving as the ranking member. Also, Hon Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings serving as deputy ranking member.
The vice chair position is goes to Hon Ophelia Mensah, Member of Parliament for Mankessim. However, Hon Alexander Afenyo Martins, Hon Bryan Acheampong, Hon Kwadzo Asante and Hon Daniel Botwe are members of the committee.

In addition, Hon Anim Adam, Hon Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei and Hon Mattew Opoku Prempeh are the other members of the committee.
In conclusion, Hon Muhammad Bawah Braima, Hon Peter Lanchene Toobu, Hon Benson Tongo Baba, Hon Ernest Henry Norgbey, Hon Kofi Adams, Hon. Adjoa Ntoso and Hon Cletus Avoka make up the committee.

This committee, however comprises of a balance equation of the two giant political parties in Ghana. Their responsibility will be in accordance to security matters. For instance, looking into matters that has breech our security activities.
