#VGMA 2021: Kofi Kinaata Makes History For Winning “Song Writer Of the Year” Award

There are two phases for this year’s VGMA 2021. The first phase of the Awards event was held successfully last night at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Center.

Winners of thirteen (13) categories were announced and honored on the first day. Alongside were beautiful performances from some of the well-known musicians in Ghana.

Kofi Kinaata, made history at the 22nd Edition of the VGMA winning the “Songwriter of Year” Category.

This category was a competitive one looking at other deserving musicians like Diana Hamilton (Adom), Joe Mettle (Yesu Mo), Abiana (Adun Lei), Adina (Hyedin) and Epixode (Too Much).

The Fante rapper a week before the award event said he was going to win this and he has won. He is the only Ghanaian musician to win the “Songwriter of the Year” for the fourth (4th) time.

He won the first in 2016 with “Susuka”, the second in 2017 with “Confession”.  The third in 2020 with “Things Fall Apart” and now the Fourth in 2021 with the song “Behind the Scene”. On the night, he showed four fingers signifying his victory 4 times.

Second phase of the show continues today Saturday, 26th June, 2021 at 7pm. There will be a live coverage from TV3 Ghana and other media platforms.
